External Relationships

Will the review impact our ongoing partnerships?

Waikato Tainui is proud of its longstanding relationships with partners. As the recommendations are considered further, the intention is to engage with key external stakeholders – including commercial and community-based stakeholders – to ensure that any concerns are considered and addressed, if necessary, in the next phase of the review.

What processes are in place to keep our partners informed about the review's progress?

Our partners can expect us to reach out directly to them to provide them with updates and information about the review and respond to any questions that they might have about this.

Tainui Group Holdings has many relationships and joint programmes of work and investment? How are these to be protected if the recommendations are adopted?

Particular care will be taken to ensure Waikato Tainui honours and respects its relationships with external partners including giving consideration to its contractual obligations. Waikato Tainui, like any other entity, has the right to order its affairs as it sees appropriate to its aspirations.

Who is managing communications to ensure that the brand and reputation of TGH isn’t adversely impacted as a result of the restructure?

We have considered that any proposed changes to the TGH structure will attract media and external attention. Being prepared and responding to this appropriately is being carefully managed. Ensuring that external partners’ confidence in Waikato Tainui’s continued presence and investment in the region is important. Highlighting that the nature of the proposed changes are about developing a unified Waikato Tainui brand and governance consolidation to sharpen the Waikato Tainui Group’s focus and future proof the structure.

Have plans been developed to protect key relationships that TGH relies on for our business activities throughout the restructure (e.g. banking relationships)?

A relationship management plan is a key part of this stage of the review to ensure that stakeholders and partners are engaged as necessary and appropriate. Care will also be taken to ensure that the Group honours its existing contractual relationships with key external parties.
